The corrupt Attorney General of Texas, Ken Paxton, has been impeached by a Texas House Committee on Thursday. The decision came after a major investigation into Paxton’s corruption and 20 articles that include “bribery, unfitness for office and abuse of public trust” were presented. The decision was met with much support and was seen as a historic rebuke of a fellow Republican who has been at the center of controversy for years. The vote triggered Paxton’s immediate suspension from office, which has led to Republican Governor Greg Abbott to appoint someone else as Texas’ top lawyer in the interim. This move is seen as a massive step forward in the fight against corruption and is an example of Republicans holding their own accountable. It is important that we continue to fight against such injustices and ensure that those in power are held accountable for their actions.

Paxton is no saint but did lots of good for Texas. I hope he will be back in office soon.
