**NBC’s Chuck Todd’s Disastrous Distortion of Supreme Court Politics**
On Sunday, Meet the Press host Chuck Todd devoted an entire hour to lamenting the partisan nature of today’s Supreme Court. Even during the Memorial Day weekend celebration, Todd couldn’t resist using a poorly contextualized statistic to paint Republicans as obstacles to Democratic Supreme Court appointments, only further dividing the nation.
In the show, Todd bemoaned the trend of the Supreme Court turning more conservative and partisan, informing viewers of a “stunning fact” — that a Republican-controlled United States Senate hasn’t confirmed a Democratic President’s Supreme Court nominee since the Grover Cleveland administration, nearly 130 years ago. Todd’s statement was not only misleading but grossly dishonest.
What Todd failed to mention is that since Cleveland’s last nominee in 1895, 28 appointees have been made by Democratic Presidents, with all but one appointed and confirmed with Democrats in the majority in the United States Senate. The only exception occurred in 2016, amidst an election year, which violated the established Biden rule.
By using this unsubstantiated fact in his opening monologue, Todd disingenuously implied that Republican-controlled Senates habitually reject Democratic Presidents’ Supreme Court nominees. Such dishonesty is, unfortunately, a common practice in left-leaning media, where statistics are often manipulated or even fabricated to serve a specific political agenda.
What’s worse is that Todd’s blatant dishonesty was aired on NBC’s Meet the Press, courtesy of Verizon. Their contact information is linked below.

**Demand Accuracy and Fairness in Today’s Journalism**
Todd’s calculated manipulation of facts on Meet the Press is a stark reminder of how crucial it is to hold journalists accountable for reporting the truth. As consumers of news, we must be vigilant in seeking accurate and fair information, and work to expose dishonesty and bias whenever it arises in the media.
