NY Times SHOCKINGLY Advocates for Biden to Ignite a ‘Constitutional Crisis’ – Even Janet Yellen Disagrees!

New York Times Advocates for a Constitutional Crisis Over Debt Ceiling

The leftist New York Times is at it again, suggesting President Joe Biden create a “constitutional crisis” by using the 14th Amendment to bypass Congress on raising the debt ceiling. Despite even Biden Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen dubbing the Times’ strategy a “constitutional crisis,” the Editorial Board isn’t backing down from its controversial proposal.

The Times’ suggestion invokes the 14th Amendment—a protection enacted post-Civil War for freed slaves. However, the editorial takes this amendment out of context, challenging whether the judicial branch would allow its debt clause to bypass the constitutional separation of powers. While avoiding a crisis in 2023, Biden agreed to a debt ceiling deal with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Yet, The Times takes issue with the arrangement, dubbing it a “watered-down version of the Republican wish list.”

In its attempt to criticize the deal, the Times fails to acknowledge the unprecedented federal spending in recent years. Instead, they argue that staying at the same spending level and growing only by 1 percent in 2025 amounts to “effective” cuts due to inflation. Furthermore, the Times takes issue with the proposed $80 billion cut in IRS funding, a move many conservatives view as essential for preventing further harassment by the federal agency.

The New York Times must stop defending politicians’ reckless spending and understand the ramifications of plunging our country further into debt.
