Are Democrats now advocating for unhealthy lifestyles? It seems that way as New York City Mayor Eric Adams signed a bill banning height and weight discrimination and claimed that “body type” has no connection to a person’s health. However, scientific studies and data directly contradict Adams’ logic. Let’s dive in.

The liberal mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, has once again prioritized political correctness over the health and well-being of his constituents. In a move that defies common sense and basic biology, Adams has signed a bill banning height and weight discrimination, claiming that “body type” has no connection to a person’s health.

Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, Adams has spouted this scientifically erroneous claim as justification for his ill-advised legislative action.

In reality, however, numerous studies have shown that obesity is linked to a myriad of serious health conditions, including high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, and stroke, all of which can significantly increase a person’s risk of premature death. Additionally, underweight individuals face their own set of health risks, including vitamin deficiencies, anemia, and decreased immune function.

This new law, set to take effect on November 22nd, is just the latest attempt by liberal politicians to undermine the health and safety of their constituents in the name of political correctness. It will prohibit employers, landlords, and public accommodations from considering an individual’s height or weight when making important decisions, putting the needs of these individuals ahead of the health and safety of the general public.

While there is an exception for employers who must comply with federal, state, or local laws and regulations, this does little to alleviate the potentially disastrous consequences of this poorly conceived legislation. Employers who must consider an individual’s weight or height for safety reasons, such as certain jobs in the construction industry or law enforcement, could be put at risk of lawsuits or financial penalties for simply doing their jobs.

Furthermore, the fact that this law has already been enacted in other liberal-leaning cities and states only underscores the dangerous trend of prioritizing political correctness over basic human welfare. The citizens of New York City, and indeed the entire country, deserve leaders who will put their health and well-being first, rather than catering to the whims of the woke crowd

The idea that body type has no connection to a person’s health is not only scientifically erroneous, but it’s also a threat to public health. This law is just another example of the left’s obsession with political correctness, even if it puts people’s health at risk. Conservatives must fight back against these dangerous policies.
