**Bizarre Disneyland Encounter Raises Concerns Over Disney’s Inclusivity Push**
A mother’s video from Disneyland has raised eyebrows as it seemingly shows a man in a dress with a moustache greeting children at a store where youngsters can dress up as princes or princesses. This incident brings to light Disney’s controversial policy changes that aim to promote inclusivity, but may also be confusing for kids.
The video in question, first posted on TikTok on May 23, 2023, captures a Disney employee at the “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique,” a salon and dress shop for children aged 3 to 12. It is unclear whether the individual in the video is a biological male or if they are still employed with Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. However, their appearance and interaction with young visitors have sparked concern among parents.
Disney’s tourism website describes the boutique as a place for kids to experience “full Princess makeovers,” including photo packages and princess dress options. In the video, the employee introduces themselves as Nick, a “fairy godmother’s apprentice.” A role of greeter at the boutique was once known as “fairy godmothers in training,” typically held by young women who would guide girls through their princess makeovers.
But in 2022, Disney resorts changed their policies on greeters, opting for a more inclusive approach. According to Inside the Magic, the new policy dubbed the role as “Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices” and allowed “Cast Members who don’t identify as female to participate.” While Disney may be aiming for inclusivity, this move has raised concerns that such changes might lead the entertainment giant into a path that could leave children confused and lost.
Disney Parks and the Walt Disney Company have yet to provide any official comment on the issue. Until they do, questions about how far a company should go to promote inclusivity at the expense of confusing children will remain unanswered.
**Disney’s Questionable Changes: Are They Going Too Far in the Name of Inclusivity?**
The recent video from Disneyland brings forth the debate on the fine line between promoting inclusivity and pushing the boundaries to the point of potential confusion for children. Such worrisome incidents call for a careful examination of company policies and their ultimate impact on the very audience they aim to entertain.
