Chicago’s Fresh Mayor Attributes Memorial Day Chaos to Neglect & Impoverished Communities!

**Chicago’s New Mayor Fails to Prevent Memorial Day Violence**

During the recent Memorial Day weekend, Chicago saw 53 shootings, with 11 fatalities, despite Governor’s plan to deploy yellow-vested ‘peacekeepers’. Newly-elected Mayor Brandon Johnson attributed the violence to ‘community disinvestment’ and poverty.

Over the holiday weekend, 53 people were shot in Chicago, and 11 of them didn’t make it out alive. Instead of addressing the real issues at hand, Mayor Brandon Johnson chose to blame the surge in violence on “community disinvestment, poverty, and trauma.” Interim CPD Superintendent Fred Waller reported that 152 illegal guns were recovered this weekend, with a total of 4,900 guns confiscated so far this year. Nevertheless, the city continues to struggle with gun violence.

Chicago residents are suffering from the dangerous state their city has become. Despite the efforts of city leaders and police officers, it appears that the recent deployment of yellow-vested ‘peacekeepers’ has done little to deter crime and violence. Social media users, including William J. Kelly and Dan Proft, have expressed their discontent with not only the lack of peacekeeping but also with Mayor Johnson’s response to the situation.

It’s hard to understand why Mayor Johnson would resort to blaming community disinvestment and poverty for the violence, especially when the city has some of the strictest gun control laws in the country. Instead of addressing underlying issues and working on effective solutions, it seems that the new Mayor is more interested in making excuses for his inability to protect the people of Chicago.

**The People of Chicago Deserve Better**

It’s clear that something needs to change for the city of Chicago to become a safer place for its residents. The new Mayor’s excuses and a lack of effective measures have led to a dangerous situation for those living in the city. The people of Chicago deserve better, and it’s high time the city’s leaders stepped up to provide real solutions to combat the ongoing violence and keep its residents safe.
