Elon Musk, entrepreneur and tech giant, seeks to protect children from irreversible gender-transition procedures. In a tweet, Musk revealed his intention to lobby for criminalization of these measures for those under the age of consent, citing the importance of allowing individuals to mature before undergoing serious, permanent physical changes.
Musk, the owner of Twitter, expressed his views after the social media platform labeled The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh’s “What Is a Woman?” documentary as “hateful conduct.” The documentary had faced limitations on its visibility due to accusations of “misgendering.” Although Twitter earlier offered to promote the film to users, this was later revoked. The Daily Wire’s tweet with the film now carries a “Visibility Limited” label, disabling comments, retweets, and likes on the post.
Despite these restrictions on the documentary, Musk displayed empathy and understanding towards those who identify with a different gender. “Whether or not you agree with using someone’s preferred pronouns, not doing so is at most rude and certainly breaks no laws. I should note that I do personally use someone’s preferred pronouns, just as I use preferred names, as a matter of good manners,” said Musk.
In conclusion, Elon Musk takes a stand against life-altering procedures for children incapable of consenting and advocates for maturity before deciding on irreversible physical changes. Musk’s influential position can encourage others to reconsider the consequences of such actions on young and vulnerable individuals.
