Target’s Losing Streak Intensifies as Woke, Satanic LGBTQ Merchandise Causes Outrage
Target is facing its longest losing streak in 23 years as JP Morgan downgrades the company’s outlook following immense backlash over controversial LGBTQ merchandise. This sudden decline in stock shares has highlighted the immense public disapproval of the retailer’s misguided collaboration with the satanic Abprallen brand, which offers children’s items promoting an extremist agenda. Will this be a wakeup call for Target and other companies dabbling in divisive politics?
As Nasdaq reported on June 1, 2023, JP Morgan downgraded their outlook for Target (NYSE:TGT) from Overweight to Neutral, with predictions of a 40.86% upside. This change in outlook was triggered by the retailer’s foray into LGBTQ merchandise, especially its controversial “Pride” Section displayed at the front of each store nationwide. From “tuck-friendly swimwear for kids” to chest binders, the clothing line introduced with satanic Abprallen has certainly rubbed many the wrong way.
Target’s “PRIDE” collection, developed in collaboration with satanic London-based LGBT+ company Abprallen, includes shirts and bags with extreme messages such as “live laugh lesbian,” “cure transphobia not trans people,” “too queer for here,” and “we belong everywhere.” The inclusion of pentagrams, horned skulls, and references to the devil are especially objectionable to many customers.
Such unsettling content has led to widespread calls for boycotts and massive backlash across the country. In response, Target held an emergency meeting with the Target Asset Protect & Corporate Security team to strategize a response. Consequently, they have decided to remove some of the offending LGBTQ+ merchandise from their Pride Month collection.
Among the removed items are “gender fluid” mugs, “queer all year” calendars, and a series of controversial children’s books aimed at ages 2-9 with titles like “Bye Bye, Binary,” “Pride 1,2,3,” and “I’m not a girl.” Additionally, all products carrying the satanic Abprallen brand have been taken off the shelves. Unsurprisingly, Target lost a staggering $10 billion in just 10 days following the introduction of its trans-satanist clothing line.
Longest Losing Streak in 23 Years: Will Target Learn from its Costly Mistake?
Target’s suffering financial performance should be a lesson to other companies tempted to dabble in divisive politics. The disastrous introduction of its woke, satanic LGBTQ merchandise and subsequent loss of over $10 billion is a compelling warning to stay true to the core values that made them successful in the first place. The question is, will they learn from this painfully expensive misstep, or continue down a path of alienating customers in the name of political agendas?
