Ex-Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot Scores Harvard Teaching Gig
The liberal elite surely takes care of their own, as ex-Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot gets hired by Harvard University to teach public health and leadership, proving once again that liberal Democrats tend to fail upward.
Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health has welcomed former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot with open arms, providing her with the opportunity to teach a course based on her experiences in navigating the coronavirus pandemic. The course, titled “Health Policy and Leadership,” has been received with incredulity by critics who scrutinize Lightfoot’s less than stellar record as mayor, particularly with regards to violence and unrest during her term in office.
Eric Andersen, the director of Harvard’s Senior Leadership Fellows Program and Studio Programming, seems to be leaving no stone unturned in praising Lightfoot’s leadership, noting that her decision-making during handling pressing public health issues will serve as vital knowledge for students. However, critics see it differently, pointing out that Lightfoot’s “leadership” resulted in her losing her re-election bid to Brandon Johnson, who many consider a radical, anti-police, and anti-business progressive figure.
This move by Harvard has been met with raised eyebrows and disbelief, as they hire a professor whose mayoral term was marked by violence and chaos. Many critics thus consider this hire to be undoubtedly political in nature.
As one observes this latest example of liberals climbing up the ladder despite clear failures, it raises an important question: why does this trend seem to persistently favor liberal Democrats?
The hiring of former Mayor Lori Lightfoot by Harvard University demonstrates the glaring reality that liberal elites protect their own, even in the face of evident shortcomings.
