An unimaginable attack led to a man named Arthur Williamson receiving a life sentence without parole by a Michigan judge. The judge, appalled by the man’s heinous crimes, mentioned the perpetrator should have committed suicide before causing such pain and suffering to others.

On September 23, 2022, 55-year-old Williamson went on a terrifying crime spree in Chesterfield Township. He attacked and bound Nicole Guertin in her own home before violently murdering her boyfriend, Jim Nicolai, an overnight news anchor for WWJ 950. Unable to stop him, Guertin also had to watch in horror as he brutally assaulted her 10-year-old son before raping her 5-year-old daughter.

Police arrived on the scene, discovering Williamson had unsuccessfully attempted suicide. He was given Narcan and sent to the hospital for treatment before his arrest. Leaving nothing but devastation in his wake, Guertin, her son, and daughter remained alive but severely traumatized.

After pledging no contest to the monstrous charges, including first-degree premeditated murder, and assault with intent to commit murder, Williamson found himself in front of Macomb County Circuit Court Judge James Biernat. Biernat described him as “the embodiment of evil” and scolded him further for not taking his own life beforehand.

Williamson, with a long history of various criminal charges, now faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. While nothing can undo the damage he has caused, at least he will never be able to hurt anyone again.
