Infant in California Diagnosed with Fentanyl Exposure, Mother Apprehended

**Californian Mother Arrested After Baby Tests Positive for Fentanyl**

A woman in El Cajon, California, faces charges of child endangerment following her baby’s testing positive for the deadly opioid fentanyl. The arrest highlights the growing drug abuse crisis in the United States and emphasizes the urgent need for action to protect innocent children caught in the crossfire.

Brianna Miller, 34, was arrested after her seven-week-old baby girl was found to have fentanyl in her system. The discovery occurred after Miller’s father found her unconscious on the floor at the Relax Inn Suites Hotel in El Cajon, presumably due to a drug overdose. When hotel staff provided Miller’s father with Narcan – an overdose reversal medication – he administered it, effectively reviving his daughter.

However, when medical personnel arrived on the scene, Miller refused any further treatment. Police and fire authorities took the baby into protective custody and transported her to Rady’s Children Hospital, where she underwent a drug screening that revealed the presence of fentanyl in her system.

This incident highlights an alarming trend of drug-addicted parents who put their children at grave risk. Equally concerning is the fact that Miller’s hotel stay was paid for by a county housing voucher program called Equus, which partners with the County of San Diego. This program has received harsh criticism in recent years for providing accommodation to known criminals, drug dealers, and fugitives.

In response to the increasing crime-related issues surrounding motels with vouchers, city officials in El Cajon are cracking down on the problem by tightening regulations and accountability measures. It is evident that more needs to be done to ensure that taxpayer-funded programs are not facilitating drug abuse and endangering the lives of innocent children.

**Protecting Our Children, Communities from the Scourge of Drug Abuse**

This harrowing incident involving a mother overdosing and her baby testing positive for a lethal drug serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing drug epidemic in the United States. It is crucial to address the crisis by implementing effective policies and stringent oversight measures to protect vulnerable children and the wider community.
