National Archives Withholds Crucial Biden Emails, Claims Legal Exclusion

National Archives Withholds Emails Between Joe and Hunter Biden: Cites Confidentiality to Protect Confidential Advice

The National Archives and Records Administration is refusing to release specific emails between Hunter Biden and his father’s office while he was Vice President, raising questions about the Biden family’s potential influence peddling and personal enrichment.

America First Legal filed a Freedom of Information Act request to obtain the emails but found that the National Archives had redacted an email from Hunter’s business partner, Eric Schwerin. The subject line read “China Lunch,” and it was sent prior to a visit by former Chinese President Hu Jintao in 2011. The National Archives cited the reason for the redaction as the potential disclosure of confidential advice between the President and his advisors.

The New York Post linked these emails to the ones found on Hunter’s laptop they had reported earlier, focusing on possible invitees to a state event hosted by then Vice President Joe Biden. America First Legal discovered emails from December 2009 through June 2010 mentioning the company “Rosemont Seneca,” one of Hunter’s businesses.

The National Archives initially intended to withhold 142 emails and redact 54 of them but later opted to withhold 148 emails and redact parts of 52 messages instead. Communication between the Vice President’s staff and Hunter Biden suggested discussions about Africa before Joe and Jill Biden’s trip to the continent. Hunter then emailed Jill Biden’s advisor, Anthony Bernal, about “Nairobi ideas.” The National Archives chose to withhold the email, once again citing the potential release of confidential advice between the President and his advisors.

The New York Post found discussions on Hunter’s laptop about possible stops during the Vice President and First Lady’s visit to Africa, similar to the emails obtained by America First Legal. Gene Hamilton, America First Legal Vice President, and General Counsel expressed concern regarding the Biden family’s potential influence peddling and personal enrichment, urging for the full extent of the situation to be revealed.

The American people deserve to know the truth, as it becomes more evident that the Biden family business was connected to the official business of the United States, raising questions about the integrity of the Biden family and their willingness to use their positions for personal gain.
