Biden’s administration has turned almost everything they have touched into chaos. Now he has announced a major change in our military that could have far-reaching implications. He and his administration have selected their next leader for our United States Marine Corp.
The nomination of Gen. Eric Smith as the Marine Corps’ top officer has sent shockwaves through the military establishment. Smith’s controversial past and radical views have raised concerns among military veterans and conservative lawmakers alike. His confirmation process promises to be a heated battle in the Senate, with Republicans questioning his commitment to upholding military traditions and defending national security.
But Smith’s nomination is just the tip of the iceberg. President Biden has embarked on a mission to reshape the Joint Chiefs of Staff, replacing long-serving military leaders with his own picks. Air Force Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr.’s nomination as the next chairman has already raised eyebrows, while Gen. Randy George’s selection as the Army’s top officer has sparked further controversy.
However, these military nominations are facing an unexpected roadblock. Sen. Tommy Tuberville, a staunch conservative, has objected to the Department of Defense’s new policies on abortion, citing violations of the Hyde Amendment. Tuberville argues that taxpayer money should not be used to fund abortions, especially given the recent wave of abortion restrictions in conservative states. This standoff has ground the military nominations process to a halt, leaving key positions vacant and the armed forces in a state of uncertainty.
Here is one of the senator’s many explanations.
The Department of Justice has weighed in on the matter, stating that the DoD is within its rights to use funds for this purpose. However, Tuberville remains steadfast in his opposition, vowing to protect the sanctity of life and prevent federal funds from being used for abortions.
As the battle over military nominations rages on, the future of the Marine Corps and the Joint Chiefs of Staff hangs in the balance. The decisions made in the coming weeks will shape the trajectory of our armed forces and determine their ability to safeguard our nation.
Senator Tuberville is absolutely right to be fighting against these radical military decisions and expecting no consequences will come from it. Yes, officers need to be promoted; however, the military ought to stay out of politics. If people like him did not push back, we would have no control over our military. The woke mob would.
