He recounted his time playing freshman football at Delaware, admitting that his poor GPA of 1.99 forced his mother to make him quit the team. However, Biden claimed he returned to play during his junior and senior years where an assistant coach lauded him, saying he ran faster backwards than anyone he’d ever seen. Biden then quipped that his political opposition must share the same sentiment.

The only problem is this emphatic story never happened, and it seems to be one of Biden’s favorite lies. He similarly declared in October that he gave up a starting spot on the University of Delaware football team due to his low GPA, which resulted in his father’s insistence to quit.
