President Biden’s approval rating continues to plummet, with over half of surveyed voters expressing disapproval of his job performance according to a recent poll. A recent NewsNation and Decision Desk HQ poll has revealed that a whopping 54.24% of registered voters either somewhat or strongly disapprove of the president’s job performance. This is no surprise given that Biden has had a higher disapproval rating than approval rating since the disastrous withdrawal of U.S. soldiers from Afghanistan in August 2021. To make matters worse, the uncertainty of the debt ceiling seems to have fueled a recent uptick in his disapproval rating, according to the RealClearPolitics polling average.

In the face of the unrelenting struggles he has faced throughout his year-and-a-half in office, Biden has virtually no hope of turning his fortunes around in the near future. Recent polling has even suggested that the president is slipping with key voting blocs, including Hispanics, the working class, and young voters. These groups had helped Biden win the presidency in 2020, and will be essential to his chances of winning another four years in 2024. Biden announced his reelection bid in April, but since then, his approval rating has only continued to decline.

The survey of 1,000 registered voters conducted by NewsNation and Decision Desk HQ from May 25-26, 2022, makes it clear that a significant number of Americans have lost faith in Biden’s ability to lead the country, with only 17.9% strongly approving and a mere 28.86% somewhat approving of his performance. In contrast, 16.58% somewhat disapprove and 36.66% strongly disapprove of the president, highlighting a growing dissatisfaction with his policies and an increasing sense of disappointment among many Americans.

There’s no denying that the president’s failures are numerous and staggering. Inflation has been a persistent issue during his tenure, with the Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation gauge increasing in April after months of decline. This has been a significant concern for the vast majority of Americans, with 55% expressing their worry over the rising costs of goods and services.

To add to his woes, crime has been another critical issue that has tainted his presidency, with 18.7% of registered voters citing it as a top concern. The upswing in crime has primarily been due to the president’s failure to stem the flow of illegal immigrants pouring over the southern border. This has led to a rise in violent criminal activity, putting innocent Americans in harm’s way.

If things continue on their current trajectory, the possibility of a third-party candidate drawing voters away from either Biden or the GOP’s presidential front-runner, Donald Trump, is very high, according to the NewsNation and Decision Desk HQ poll. With mounting frustration among a significant portion of Americans, a Biden-Trump rematch in the 2024 election will be met with fierce resistance, as many will seek a viable alternative on the ballot.

As the oldest U.S. president in history, Biden’s failing health, combined with his failing administration, is causing no end of alarm among the American people. It is time for Biden to step down and allow a more competent and capable leader to take the reins of our country’s leadership.
