Biden’s radical climate change agenda threatens to leave Americans out in the cold
The Biden administration is preparing to finalize drastic regulations restricting the types of furnaces Americans can purchase for their homes. These new rules, originally proposed by the Department of Energy in June 2022, will not only limit consumer options but also increase the cost of heating for countless households.
At the heart of the proposed regulations is a requirement for furnaces to achieve an annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE) of 95% by 2029. The current market standard AFUE for a residential furnace is 80%. Under these new regulations, non-condensing gas furnaces will be taken off the market due to heightened AFUE requirements, leaving consumers with potentially expensive installation costs when replacing their old furnaces.
Richard Meyer, Vice President of Energy Markets, Analysis and Standards at the American Gas Association, has described the rule as “concerning” due to its impact on consumers. These new regulations would also require many homeowners to install additional equipment to exhaust gas out of their houses, which can be costly.
According to Fox News, up to 60% of current residential furnaces on the market could be banned under the new proposals. With millions of Americans unable to afford both new equipment and furnaces, some are at risk of freezing to death.
This latest move is yet another example of the Biden administration’s determination to overhaul American lifestyles, following earlier attempts to ban gas stoves and significantly reduce water and energy use limits. While ordinary citizens are left to pay the price,
