In yet another brazen attempt to enter the United States illegally, a group of migrants charged a CBP official port of entry, forcing federal authorities to shut down the Gateway International Bridge in Brownsville, Texas. The incident is a clear indication of the worsening immigration crisis, which demands immediate action from the government to secure our borders and prevent such incursions.

Chaos ensued at the border as a swarm of illegal immigrants gathered to storm their way into the United States through the Gateway International Bridge in Brownsville, Texas. The unruly mob began gathering around 4:15 p.m. on Monday, bringing the port of entry area to a standstill. Federal authorities were forced to shut down the international border for hours as the situation spiraled out of control.

Video footage captured the grotesque moment when the barbaric horde appeared to push through the Mexican tollbooths without a care in the world. In one particularly alarming clip posted on social media by Brownsville City Commissioner Pedro Cardenas, a throng of migrants can be seen running north after breaking through a pedestrian barrier set up by the courageous Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials.

The feckless MSM and their liberal allies were, predictably, quick to portray this latest act of brazen provocation by illegal immigrants as an innocent act of desperation. But we know better. This was a coordinated, violent, and premeditated attack on our borders. And make no mistake, it is a direct result of the Biden-Harris open borders policies that have emboldened migrant groups and incentivized them to make the treacherous journey to the United States.

This crisis is a ticking time bomb that the Biden administration is willfully ignoring. It is tragic that our border officials are having to bear the brunt of this administration’s reckless policies, placing their lives at risk every day. But, rest assured, we will not sit idly by while our country is overrun by lawless migrants who have no intention of abiding by our laws.

Following the terrifying incident, CBP released a statement acknowledging that they are continuously evaluating their operations posture and may need to take further action to quell the ongoing crisis. And while they were eventually able to contain and disperse the dangerous mob within a couple of hours, the damage had already been done.

What happened in Brownsville is just a glimpse of the chaos that is unfolding at our southern border. It’s time for the Biden administration to wake up and realize that their misguided policies are putting our nation’s safety and security at risk. We need strong leadership and a firm commitment to our sovereignty. Anything less is a dereliction of duty.
