In a recent Substack post, Seymour Hersh, the journalist known for unveiling the Biden administration’s alleged terror attack on the NordStream pipeline, expressed his strong disapproval of Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s approach to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. He described Blinken as a “career hawk when it comes to Russia” and argued that the Secretary’s dedication to the Ukraine war was overpowering.

During a June 2nd speech in Helsinki, celebrating Finland’s admission as a NATO member, Hersh highlighted that Blinken dismissed the suggestion of a much-needed ceasefire in Ukraine. This dismissal was met with disappointment, especially considering the Ukrainian army and citizens are under constant pressure and could greatly benefit from a pause in conflict.

Blinken’s remarks in Helsinki revealed his stance on the issue when he said, “a ceasefire that simply freezes current lines in place and enables Putin to consolidate control over the territory he’s seized…is not a just and lasting peace. It’s a Potemkin peace.” He continued, “It would legitimize Russia’s land grab. It would reward the aggressor and punish the victim.”
