Missouri Governor Upholds Female Sports and Protects Youth with New Laws

In a major move to preserve the integrity of female sports and protect Missouri’s youth from potentially harmful experimental treatments, Governor Mike Parson recently signed Senate Bills 39 and 49 into law, banning biological males from participating in female sports and prohibiting gender-transition surgeries and hormones for minors.

The Missouri Save Adolescents from Experimentation Act was passed by state lawmakers last month, leading to Governor Parson’s signature. SB39 protects fairness in female sports by prohibiting elementary, secondary, and postsecondary institutions from allowing biological male students to compete in female sports teams. This law applies to public and private schools and colleges and universities across the state.

Governor Parson emphasized the importance of this legislation, stating that women and girls deserve equal opportunities and fairness in sports without intrusion from biological males. The governor’s steadfast commitment to true equality and the right of females to compete only against their own sex is evident in Missouri’s new policy. Institutions violating this law risk losing state aid and other revenues.

Furthermore, SB49 seeks to protect the physical and emotional well-being of minors by banning health care providers from performing gender-transition surgeries, prescribing hormones, or providing gender transition drugs to individuals under 18 years of age. This legislation acknowledges that children might not fully understand the lifelong implications of these life-altering decisions, as they have not yet reached full maturity.
