Former President Trump has taken issue with Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt’s endorsement of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for the 2024 presidential race, after the two campaigned together over the weekend. Trump, who had previously endorsed Stitt in his 2018 gubernatorial race, criticized the governor’s support for DeSantis, highlighting his previous win in all 77 Oklahoma counties in the 2016 presidential election.

Trump stated, “Governor Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma, who I didn’t know very well, called me before his last election to say he was in BIG trouble and very much needed my endorsement. I LOVE Oklahoma & won 77 out of 77 Counties, something that never happened before. Ronald Reagan was next with 56. Anyway, I gave him my endorsement, he immediately went way up, and won. Now, despite the fact that DeSanctimonious is losing to Biden, & me, Stitt just endorsed him. Wow! He disliked ‘the Indians’ & my great Senate pick!”

Trump’s strong support in Oklahoma is evident from his historic win in the state in 2016, a feat only previously achieved by former President Ronald Reagan and Senator Mitt Romney. Additionally, Trump’s endorsement of Governor Stitt in 2018 was a decisive factor in his victory in the GOP primary race.

The former president’s criticisms of Stitt’s endorsement of DeSantis came after the Florida governor visited Oklahoma over the weekend and received formal endorsements from Stitt, former Oklahoma Representative Jim Bridenstine, and 20 state lawmakers.

However, Trump’s proven strong support in Oklahoma is testament to his popularity in the state, and his endorsement was a decisive factor in Governor Stitt’s victory in the 2018 GOP primary race. The people of Oklahoma will not be fooled – Trump is the way to victory.
