In a recent Twitter feud, acclaimed horror author Stephen King tried to take a jab at Senator Ted Cruz over a 2021 trip to Cancun. However, King got more than he bargained for when Cruz turned the conversation towards the ongoing crisis at the U.S-Mexico border, where the number of illegal crossings and encounters with persons on the Terror Watch List has skyrocketed since President Biden took office.
Cruz shared a video from a recent Fox News appearance highlighting the alarming situation at the southern border. According to the senator, Border Patrol had already encountered 125 people on the Terror Watch List in fiscal year 2023 — which isn’t even over yet — up from 98 such encounters in 2022, 15 in 2021, and just 3 in 2020. Additionally, since Biden took office, more than six million individuals have crossed the border illegally, making it the worst crisis in history.
King, being a multi-millionaire leftist, thought he could get away with poking fun at Cruz’s trip to Cancun during a deadly freeze and power failure in Texas. But Cruz wasn’t having it. He called out King for his lack of concern for the kids being abused and women being sexually assaulted at the border, not to mention the 853 migrants who died last year or the 100k Americans who died of drug overdoses. Yet all King wanted to talk about was Cancun.
King tried to bring up the topic again, but Cruz wasn’t letting him off the hook. Cruz, who is actually worth more than King, reminded the author that he gladly took a 90% pay cut to fight every day for 30 million Texans. Meanwhile, King continues to sit in his mansion in Maine, laughing at the pain and suffering of those affected by the crisis at the southern border.
The situation at the border has become a humanitarian crisis, with children being separated from their parents and forced to live in overcrowded detention facilities. The Biden administration’s lax immigration policies have only exacerbated the problem, with illegal immigrants flooding into the country in record numbers. This has also led to an increase in crime, drugs, and human trafficking.
It’s time for people like Stephen King to stop ignoring the reality of the crisis at the border and start holding President Biden accountable for his failed policies. Instead of making snarky comments on Twitter, King should be putting his millions to use by helping those affected by the crisis. Until then, he should keep his mouth shut and let the real leaders like Ted Cruz handle the situation.
