London’s vibrant Pride parade was marred this year by the disruptive interference of climate activists from the so-called Just Stop Oil movement. Thankfully, law enforcement intervened and made several arrests. The Just Stop Oil protesters claimed to be upset with Pride London’s sponsorships from ‘high-polluting industries,’ yet their understanding of complex energy issues is shallow and one-dimensional. Their confrontational tactics and divisive agenda undermine the celebration of inclusion and diversity that Pride represents. These activists prioritize attention-seeking over meaningful dialogue and practical solutions. Their brand of left-wing politics offers no constructive alternatives.
