Bud Light, one of America’s most iconic beer brands, has taken yet another major hit in sales. The insidious partnership between the beloved beer brand and transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney caused severe backlash from patriotic Americans, leading to the banishment of Bud Light from the top 10 list of America’s most popular beers.
According to a recent YouGov survey conducted from April to mid-June, Bud Light has slipped to the 14th spot, plummeting five places from its position last year. Meanwhile, brands such as Guinness, Heineken, Corona, Samuel Adams, and Blue Moon have risen to greater heights, proving that Americans are loyal to beers that reflect their values.
Despite Bud Light’s failure to salvage its brand, its parent company, Anheuser-Busch, still hasn’t learned its lesson. The insensitive and shameless promotion of Mulvaney’s “Days of Girlhood” series on TikTok, which many Americans consider to be an attack on their values, was a grave mistake. Bud Light even went a step further by partnering with the controversial figure and sending him a beer can with his face on it to celebrate the one-year mark of his series.
The outrage sparked by this ill-conceived partnership has cost the company significantly in terms of sales and reputation. Mulvaney, a 26-year-old actor and transgender activist, has come under fire for allegedly mocking womanhood in his videos. It’s no wonder that patriotic Americans, who cherish traditional values, boycotted the brand and opted for beers that reflect their lifestyle.
The boycott led to a 29% decrease in Bud Light sales in the four weeks ending in mid-June, compared to the same period in 2022. The consulting firm Bump Williams reported that Bud Light has plummeted in popularity since Mulvaney’s partnership with the brand. Nevertheless, Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth has not issued an apology or indicated that the company has any intentions of making amends.
In conclusion, the partnership between Bud Light and Dylan Mulvaney was a grave mistake that has cost the brand its place in the top 10 most popular beers in America. Anheuser-Busch’s refusal to acknowledge its error and apologize to patriotic Americans shows a blatant disregard for traditional values and a cavalier attitude towards the consumers who make or break their business. It’s time for the company to take responsibility for its actions and make amends before it’s too late.
