The Biden administration is shamelessly yet again siding with illegal aliens over the American people. The Department of Justice is threatening to sue Texas over “humanitarian concerns” for installing floating barriers on the Rio Grande River to stop illegal border crossings. This is despite the fact that these barriers have proven to be effective in deterring illegal aliens from daring to cross the border.

The DOJ is ridiculously claiming that the barriers, which were first put in place earlier this month, “pose a risk to navigation, as well as public safety” in the Rio Grande River. This is an absolute joke, as it is crystal clear that the only thing that the barriers pose a risk to is the Biden administration’s open-border policies.

Governor Greg Abbott has bravely stood up for Texas by tweeting that the state will not be removing the barriers. Abbott has rightfully pointed out that Texas has the “sovereign authority to defend our border, under the U.S. Constitution and the Texas Constitution.” Furthermore, Abbott has noted that the Biden administration has received numerous letters detailing Texas’ authority. These letters included one that Abbott himself hand-delivered to President Biden earlier this year.

The Biden administration’s refusal to secure the border has directly caused the tragic humanitarian crisis that we are currently experiencing. The open-border policies of the Left have emboldened illegal aliens to recklessly and dangerously cross the Rio Grande River instead of using legal ports of entry. The fact that the DOJ is trying to remove the barriers that Texas has installed to protect its own citizens is yet another shocking example of how the Left cares more about illegal aliens than Americans.

The barriers in question are 4-foot-wide orange spherical buoys that spin if someone tries to grab onto them. These barriers have been placed in the Rio Grande specifically to deter illegal aliens from attempting to cross into the U.S. near Eagle Pass. If the DOJ successfully sues Texas to remove these barriers, it would be another disastrous blow to America’s border security.

Thankfully, the state of Texas is not going to back down. Operation Lone Star, which is spearheaded by Texas, is an incredible effort to combat the catastrophe that has been unleashed on the state by President Joe Biden’s immigration policies. Texas will continue to deploy every strategy possible to protect its citizens, even if that means taking on the radical Left and their twisted obsession with open borders.
