Another day, another example of Democrat privilege in action. The latest case in point comes from Rhode Island, where State Senator Joshua Miller was let off the hook for vandalizing a private citizen’s car and misleading the police. The reason for his preferential treatment? He’s a Democrat, of course.
Miller was arrested in June after allegedly keying a car with a “Biden Sucks” bumper sticker on it. When questioned by police, the deceitful Democrat senator claimed that the victim was a “gun nut” who made up the whole incident. But video evidence showed that Miller was lying all along.
Despite his clear wrongdoing, Miller has been given a mere slap on the wrist. He’s been ordered to pay $3,000 in restitution to the victim, but if he stays out of trouble for the rest of the year, his conviction will be scrubbed from his record. Meanwhile, the victim is left to deal with the aftermath of Miller’s vandalism, and the message is clear: Democrats can commit crimes with impunity.
It’s a sorry state of affairs in Rhode Island, but sadly it’s nothing new. Miller’s case is just the latest example of politics as usual in the Ocean State. Once again, a Democrat has been allowed to get away with misconduct while retaining his position as chair of the powerful Health and Human Services Committee and keeping his committee assignments.
The Rhode Island GOP has rightly blasted the decision, but it seems unlikely that anything will change. Democrats have a stranglehold on the state, and they’re not going to let go of their power easily. Miller himself has made it clear that he has no plans to step down, despite the cloud of suspicion that now hangs over him.
Once again, we see that there’s one set of rules for Democrats and another for everyone else. It’s a sad reflection of the state of our country today, but it’s one that conservatives must continue to fight against. We must demand equal treatment under the law, and hold Democrats accountable for their crimes. Otherwise, the lawlessness and corruption will only continue to spread.
