Chilling Tale from a Jar: Wristbands, Human Trafficking, and a Heated Capitol Hill Showdown

In a shocking display of reality, Republican lawmaker Kat Cammack brandished a jar filled with wristbands she claims were used by cartels to control and brutally punish migrants attempting to cross the border. According to Cammack, cartels force the migrants they smuggle across the border to wear these wristbands as a sign of their allegiance, and those who fail to comply risk having a limb or appendage removed.

During a House subcommittee hearing on the exploitation of migrant children overseen by Xavier Becerra, Secretary of the Health and Human Services (HHS), Cammack challenged Becerra to explain how migrants were “thoroughly vetted” before being handed over to sponsors. Cammack cited an incident where a young girl was terrified by the man holding her and later found to be a convicted sex offender. Cammack further claimed that HHS often releases migrant children to sponsors who are in the United States illegally and that dozens of the children end up with the same sponsor.

While Becerra insisted that the sponsors of the unaccompanied minors are thoroughly vetted and subjected to a series of assessments, Cammack expressed skepticism and disgust with HHS, claiming background checks are conducted in only 23% of cases and DNA tests in 9% of cases, leading to some 85,000 children missing under the Biden administration.

The facts described in Cammack’s jar presentation are horrifying, but not entirely surprising given the disastrous southern border policy of the Biden administration. The situation appears to be getting worse with each passing day, underscoring the incompetence and lack of preparation of the Biden administration when it comes to managing national borders. The US government has a responsibility to protect its citizens, and it’s becoming increasingly clear the Biden administration is failing drastically in this regard. It’s time for the country to demand that the southern border be secured and for the administration to be held to account for its persistent failure in this regard.
