Country music sensation Craig Morgan has reenlisted in the U.S. Army, sending shockwaves of patriotism through the heart of America. The 59-year-old star raised his right hand and swore the Oath of Allegiance in front of a sold-out crowd at none other than the Grand Ole Opry.
Morgan’s reenlistment came after news of the Army’s struggle to recruit among younger Americans who were failing to take up the call to defend their country. Fueled by his unwavering love for America, Morgan felt compelled to do his part, and with the help of Tennessee Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), his dream came true.
General Andrew Poppas and Sergeant Major Todd Sims joined the star on stage to swear him back into active service. Morgan sacrificed 17 years of his life to the Army, including ten years of active duty. His invaluable experience and first-hand knowledge of the challenges faced by our brave soldiers on the front lines make him the perfect addition to our military. Having already served in South Korea and participated in the U.S. invasion of Panama in 1989, he knows all too well the dangers that can arise when our country is under threat.
Speaking of his reenlistment, Morgan said, “I realized that there’s so much that I’ve missed — the friends, the feeling of the sense of accomplishment”.
He credits his time in the Army for shaping him into the man he is today and feels that his true calling lies in serving his country. This latest move by the country music star will surely inspire a new wave of patriotism throughout the country, urging young Americans to take up arms and stand up for the freedom and democracy that is under threat from all angles.
Craig Morgan’s decision to reenlist could not have come at a more critical juncture in America’s history. Our great country is facing unprecedented trials, both at home and abroad. We need brave men and women like Morgan to step up and defend the liberties that we hold dear. With his patriotism and drive to serve, Morgan is setting an example that every American should strive to emulate.
