Bidenomics or Brokenomics? The Struggle with Rising Living Costs Amidst Presidential Claims

President Joe Biden is facing a wave of criticism for his delusional belief that his economic policies – dubbed “Bidenomics” – are lowering costs for hardworking American families. However, the reality facing Americans is quite different, as prices for basic necessities like food, energy, and gas have skyrocketed under Biden’s watch.

Despite Biden’s claims to be growing the economy from the middle out and bottom up, many Americans are feeling the pinch of his so-called Bidenomics. In fact, under his administration, literally nothing costs less. This is not just opinion, but a fact that is backed up by the staggering increase in prices that Americans have experienced. For instance, the average American is now spending $709 more per month to accommodate their basic needs compared to just two years ago.

Biden’s defenders may point to slightly lower inflation rates and positive jobs numbers, but they fail to acknowledge the truth. The reality is that jobs numbers are not just newly created jobs but also jobs that were left unfilled during the pandemic and have since been filled. Moreover, fewer eligible people are even looking for work, meaning that the employment situation is not as rosy as Biden’s surrogates would have us believe.

On top of that, the Biden administration has often boasted about lowered inflation, but this is based on “core inflation,” which eliminates the impact of more volatile costs such as food and gasoline. However, average Americans have to purchase those items weekly, if not daily, and are therefore more impacted by the fact that “core inflation” may have lowered. Yet, the administration seems to be turning a deaf ear to these problems, instead focusing on climate initiatives that do nothing to address the immediate and pressing needs of everyday Americans.

Bidenomics has also led to skyrocketing interest rates and gas prices, with hardworking Americans now paying up to $5 per gallon for gas. The cost to buy a house has also increased by 8%, making homeownership increasingly unaffordable for many. All in all, Bidenomics is a disaster for everyday Americans who are struggling to make ends meet. The Biden administration must take note and take decisive action to alleviate these problems, rather than continuing to gloss over them with meaningless rhetoric.
