The Democratic Mayor of Eagle Pass, Texas, Rolando Salinas, came out guns blazing against President Biden and his administration, blaming them for the unprecedented surge of illegal aliens at the southern border, stating that Eagle Pass has been “abandoned” by the Federal Government. Speaking with CNN, Salinas declared a state of emergency after more than 5,000 illegal aliens entered the border town from Mexico, sending shockwaves through the community and causing a humanitarian crisis.

Mayor Salinas pointed out the lack of action from the Biden Administration, emphasizing that he had not heard from anyone in the administration.

“I haven’t heard from anybody in the administration. The President hasn’t put out a statement, the Vice President – I haven’t heard from anybody,” he said. “Nobody has bothered to call me or anyone in the city staff saying, ‘hey, this is the federal government, we’re worried about you, this is our plan of action.’”

This lack of attention is shameful, and it reflects a lack of regard for the American people’s security.

Salinas slammed the Biden Administration for its open-door policy and called on the government to enforce existing immigration law. The unfettered illegal immigration taking place is “not fair to those who come to the country legally,” pleaded Mayor Salinas. “If you wanna come here, good – come legally.”

The alarming figures speak volumes, with 232,972 migrant encounters at the southern border in August, marking the highest figure in the calendar year, as well as the highest August on record, according to figures released by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol. These harbingered insurgencies bring with them a whole host of challenges, from increased crime and the spread of COVID-19 to job losses for hardworking Americans.

The Biden Administration’s weak stance on illegal immigration and border security is a threat to the safety and security of all Americans. It seems that the Democrats’ need for votes has superseded reason and sensibility, leading to an abandon of law-abiding citizens. Indeed, there is a right way to enter the country, but the Democrats’ open-border policies make a mockery of the legal system.
