In their latest attempt to infringe on the basic rights of American citizens and impose their radical green energy agenda, the Biden Administration has set their sights on everyday household items once again. This time, they are targeting gas-powered furnaces in homes, a move that has left many conservative voices up in arms.

On Friday, the Department of Energy announced new standards that will take effect in 2028, requiring non-weatherized gas furnaces to achieve an “annual fuel utilization efficiency” of 95 percent. The Biden Administration claims that this move will cut household utility costs by $1.5 billion and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from homes, but the reality is that it will likely do more harm than good.

Despite natural gas being far less expensive than electricity on a unit energy basis, the only gas furnaces that will likely meet the new regulations will be more costly and harder to install. Richard Meyer, the vice president of energy markets, analysis, and standards at the American Gas Association, has expressed his concern over the ban, highlighting issues around consumer compliance with the new efficiency standards and the cost-prohibitive nature of the retrofitting that will be required.

It is clear that the Biden Administration’s progressive push to achieve a fossil-fuel-free future is being achieved at the direct expense of American citizens. Their efforts to ban gas stoves, gas-powered vehicles, washing machines, and meat, while reconstructing every building in America, are nothing short of an attack on individual freedom, choice, and liberty.

This radical climate agenda, which seeks to eliminate air travel, fossil fuels, and nuclear power, has imposed its progressive agenda on the American people without any regard for their fundamental rights and freedoms. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm’s statement that the new regulations “underscores President Biden’s commitment to save Americans money and deliver healthier communities” is nothing but a thinly-veiled attempt to justify the Administration’s blatant disregard for the rights and freedoms of American citizens.

This move to ban gas-powered furnaces is just the latest in a string of authoritarian moves by the Biden Administration, who have prided themselves on taking 110 actions on energy efficiency rules in 2022 alone. It is abundantly clear that their goals of achieving energy efficiency are being prioritized over individual liberty and freedom.

The American people have a right to choose what appliances they use and what cars they drive, but the Biden Administration is determined to strip them of that right. It is time for Americans to stand up against this radical green energy push and demand their right to make their own choices when it comes to everyday household items and personal transportation.
