Shock Poll Reveals Trump Leading Biden by 4% in Key Swing States for Hypothetical 2024 Showdown

In a revelation that’s set political circles abuzz, a recent Bloomberg News and Morning Consult poll indicates a surprising preference for former President Donald Trump over current President Joe Biden in a potential 2024 electoral battle. The survey, which focused on voters in seven pivotal swing states, showed a 4 percent lead for Trump, underscoring a dramatic shift in political winds.

The poll zeroed in on Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, revealing a startling edge for Trump, who clinched 47 percent support compared to Biden’s 43 percent. Intriguingly, this 4 percent advantage held steady in both a direct duel scenario and ballots featuring Green, Libertarian, and No Labels candidates.

This comprehensive survey involved 5,023 participants, including 1,323 self-identified independents. Notably, in a race with third-party candidates, independents’ support for Biden lagged a significant 10 percent behind Trump. Even in a one-on-one contest, the gap merely narrowed to 8 percent.

Diving into the reasons behind the current president’s waning support, “Bidenomics,” or his economic strategy, emerged as a significant factor. A mere 26 percent of swing state voters felt the economy had thrived under Biden, while a substantial 49 percent expressed discontent with his fiscal policies.

Conversely, Trump’s economic policy remains a strong suit, with 51 percent of respondents believing the nation’s financial health fared better during his tenure. Furthermore, 49 percent expressed confidence in Trump’s ability to restore economic stability, compared to a modest 35 percent for Biden. Among independent voters, faith in Biden plummeted further to just 25 percent.

Reacting to the poll, the Biden campaign conveyed to Axios their resolve to stay the course, emphasizing that the 2024 election remains distant. “We’re committed to rolling up our sleeves and getting the job done, rather than getting sidetracked by poll numbers,” the statement read.

Conducted between October 5 and 10, this eye-opening poll, with its marginal error of just 1 percentage point, signals potential challenges for Biden’s re-election campaign, while simultaneously bolstering Trump supporters’ hopes for a political comeback in the next presidential race. As the country speculates on 2024, these findings raise the stakes for both parties, marking economic performance as a decisive issue for voters
