Biden Dips into America’s Arsenal Again for Ukraine

The Biden administration is gearing up to announce yet another extravagant military aid package for Ukraine, draining another $150 million from American resources.

This package, reportedly to be handed over as early as next Wednesday, will be stocked with rockets, munitions, and missiles, despite many believing that America should prioritize its interests and allies.

Inside sources informed VOA News that this hefty package would arm Ukraine with GMLRS rockets for the High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), munitions for the National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS), TOW anti-tank missiles, AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles, and notably, 155mm rounds.

Alarmingly, these 155mm rounds are not only sought by Ukraine but also by Israel, one of America’s staunchest allies, as they grapple with threats from the Iranian-backed Hamas. Though the Pentagon attempted to assuage concerns, stating there were enough 155mm rounds to go around, the question arises: Why are we juggling resources between allies when America has its challenges?

Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder, Pentagon press secretary, acknowledged the overlapping demands but downplayed the significance, stating that this is just “one small area” of concern. However, for many Americans, every penny counts, and the concern is more about the repeated raids on America’s stockpile for Ukraine’s benefit.

With this latest gesture, the Biden administration will have unlocked the U.S. arsenal for Ukraine an astonishing 49 times. To date, the U.S. has poured a staggering $44 billion in military aid into Ukraine since the outbreak of their conflict, all while the Pentagon holds onto an additional $5 billion of congressionally approved funds.

Earlier this month, the political landscape shifted as House Speaker Kevin McCarthy faced allegations of a secret Ukraine funding deal with Biden and subsequently lost his seat. With Republican Mike Johnson stepping in, there’s speculation about how this change in leadership might impact future aid to Ukraine, given the need for House and Senate approval.

A growing chorus of Republicans is rightly pointing out the need to prioritize America’s interests. They’re urging the Biden administration to redirect focus and resources toward pressing domestic issues. It’s high time we ask: Is it America First, or is Biden’s administration losing sight of its priorities?
