Gwyneth Paltrow and Terry Sanderson, a retired optometrist, were involved in a ski trial that attracted significant media attention. This event is now being transformed into a comedy parody musical titled “Gwyneth Goes Skiing,” set to debut in London. The production opens on December 13 at the Pleasance Theater.
The musical’s plot narrates the story of Paltrow and Sanderson’s ski slope collision in 2016 at Deer Valley and their subsequent court case in 2023. It’s described as a tale of love, betrayal, skiing, and Christmas, where the audience plays the role of the jury.
Linus Karp will portray Paltrow, while Joseph Martin takes on the role of Sanderson. The musical features original music by Leland and runs until December 23, with tickets available on the theater’s website. The opening night is already fully booked.
A behind-the-scenes glimpse of the production was shared on Instagram, showing preparations for the musical.
In March, a Utah jury concluded that Paltrow was not liable for Sanderson’s injuries sustained during their 2016 collision. Paltrow, who also won a countersuit, was awarded symbolic damages. Reflecting on the trial, Paltrow expressed to The New York Times that the experience was surreal and challenging to process, noting the lengthy time it sometimes takes for her to understand and move past significant events in her life.
