Once again, we’ve got presidential debates on the horizon folks. But this time, things are different. President Trump has allowed Joe Biden to dictate the rules. CNN has slipped into the driver’s seat for the first round, while ABC takes up the second. Now, with Jake Tapper and Dana Bash of CNN moderating, it’s got me thinking, is this some sort of “Trump Trap”?
Take a gander at the current political landscape. At this moment, Trump’s entangled in a New York trial, with the presiding judge publicly known for his contributions to Biden’s campaign. The judge’s daughter is a left-leaning activist, and the Manhattan District Attorney, a Democrat. The New York State Attorney General also leans left. Seems like they’re all lining up to take a shot at Trump.
Then there’s this drama with Democrat DA Fani Willis in Fulton County and her case against Trump. Also noteworthy is the Biden Justice Department’s charges on Trump regarding mishandling classified documents. Oddly enough, Biden was exposed to be storing classified documents improperly, without any raids or legal actions.
The consequences of this legal ballet? Massive public backlash. When Trump made an appearance in New Jersey, a state deemed Democratic territory, an astonishing 100,000 supporters rolled out. Furthermore, numerous Republican Congress members are appearing at Trump’s trial. It’s fair to say that they wouldn’t risk potential votes unless they were confident in their choice.
Basically, Trump has become a bullseye for the American political and legal establishment. These strikes have only ended in political self-destruction. The mainstream liberal media, CNN included, have been attacking Trump constantly, leading to a public backlash.
Bad news for CNN, as their ratings have sunk to new lows. Even the Tonight Show’s Jimmy Fallon took a swipe, saying, “Biden and Trump will meet on CNN…Biden’s debate condition is no audience. Hence why it’s on CNN.”
The upcoming CNN debate has the markings of a “Trump Trap.” Now, I’ve worked with Tapper and Bash, the moderators, and they’re good folks. But they’ve voiced their disdain for Trump on numerous occasions. So, this debate may very well be Trump against Biden, and two Trump-detesting moderators.
And if you consider the climate, with surges of support for Trump following his legal battles, this debate might just backfire on CNN. Trump’s treatment at the hands of Tapper and Bash could fuel more supporters his way.
Could this be another episode like the CNN “town hall” with Kaitlan Collins, where she kept on interrupting Trump? It caused an uproar among CNN staff and viewers.
What’s clear here? This whole spectacle might turn out to be the ultimate “Trump Trap.” Trump gets to take on not just Biden, but two anti-Trump moderators, in front of millions of viewers. It could end up fueling the fire of support for Trump, just like that New Jersey gathering.
So, buckle up, folks. This one’s going to make for an entertaining and revealing evening. It won’t just be a debate; it’ll be a political spectacle. Grab your popcorn and prepare for the show.
