Let’s get straight to the point: Liberal narratives continually paint the Republican Party in the wrong light, insinuating that everything was rosy before Donald Trump came into power. “If only Ronald Reagan, George Bush, or Mitt Romney were in charge,” they lament, assuming that their biases would have been suspended. But they’re wrong. The goalposts for the media’s approval just keep shifting, and respect for the GOP seems forever out of reach.

CNN’s Fareed Zakaria claims that “extremism” pervades the modern GOP, likening the party to a demonic entity. MSNBC’s Mike Brzezinski, openly advocates for the Democrats, portraying them as the last hope against Republican “fascism”. However, these statements distort reality and ignore past scrutiny faced by traditional conservatives as well.

In 1994, Newsweek’s Joe Klein labeled Republicans as racists. Jack E. White of Time magazine implicated conservatives as arsonists, responsible for church burnings in 1996. During Obama’s 2008 presidential run, Newsweek’s team depicted online conservatives as hate peddlers, while the Washington Post compared the Tea Party to segregationist mobs.

The narrative continued, with an MSNBC host accusing Mitt Romney of racial denigration in 2012. The Washington Post contended in 2015 that the Republican party had morphed into the Confederate party, supporting slavery and segregation, long before Donald Trump took center stage.

So, disregard the spun tales that journalists respected Republicans and conservatives in the pre-Trump era. Liberal media’s contempt for the GOP has longstanding roots; quotes from various reports over the years prove this.

The media has repeatedly used language to manipulate perceptions, suggesting that Republicans oppose racial equality, peddle hate, and propagate racial violence. Such narratives that continually paint Republicans as villains conveniently ignore the fact that these accusations have been perpetuated since long before Trump’s political involvement.

The framework for these media misrepresentations results from an unyielding refusal to understand or engage with conservative viewpoints. Such blatant bias does a disservice to news consumers, breeding divisiveness instead of fostering understanding.
