Boom, CBS dropped the long-awaited interview of Pope Francis with anchor Norah O’Donnell. The interview was an obvious fishing expedition, designed to propagate liberal talking points on migration and climate change.
In the interview, Francis stands with those who advocate for open borders. O’Donnell skillfully directs the conversation to the controversial topics of migration in the US and the closing of borders. Francis sees the “integration of migrants into new life” as the solution to this issue, expressing views that align with the Left’s open-door policy.
O’Donnell then cleverly directs the conversation to a Catholic charity in Texas on the Mexican border, a charity providing help to illegal immigrants. Francis reacts strongly, labeling the Texas state’s attempt to close it down as “madness.” She brings in Bishop Mark Seitz from El Paso Texas, who is stridently opposing Texas’ move and feels accusations put fear into those just trying to help.
The media has been selective with whom they back. They fully support Pope Francis’s liberal views on migration. However, they could not ignore Harrison Butker’s controversial comments on family, life, and marriage, making him the latest media buzz.
The disappointing part of this interview was the lack of coverage on key issues such as abortion. The Pope’s views on abortion don’t match those of the left. Hence it was omitted, demonstrating the media’s bias. O’Donnell also simplifies the state’s concern over the Catholic charity shielding undocumented immigrants from law enforcement, calling it a “humanitarian assistance” provider, which is a bit of a stretch.
From illegal migration, they switch gears to climate change, another favorite leftist topic. O’Donnell tries to link climate change to increased migration. Pope Francis was quick to share his views, placing the blame on all wealthy nations. He claims they can make the most difference, stating climate change is alarming and implicating them for their lack of consciousness. He also takes a swing at climate change deniers, labeling them “foolish people.”
In summation, O’Donnell’s interview was crafted to cater to left-wing agendas, focusing on migration, and climate change, while ignoring topics like abortion which could have put Francis in a bind with the Left. The media’s double-standard was laid bare in this highly one-sided conversation. It’s a clear manifestation of how the media selectively chooses to propagate ideas that conveniently align with their political leanings.
Ultimately, this has raised eyebrows about the media’s role in steering the narrative in favor of left-leaning ideologies. It’s up to us to critically analyze every piece of information presented to us and read between the lines.
