Hook: If you thought bankrupt journalism was a myth, you need look no further than MSNBC’s Joy Reid. On her show “The ReidOut”, she led the outrageous charge against Justice Samuel Alito for flying an “Appeal to Heaven” flag at his New Jersey home, branding Alito as a “lawless individual”.
Onto the main event – Joy Reid’s absurd portrayal of Justice Samuel Alito. The flag Alito flew, distinguished by The New York Times as a “provocative symbol” is, in reality, a historic relic dating back to pre-Revolutionary War times. It’s known as the “Appeal to Heaven” flag, and contrary to the slanderous insinuations from Reid and The Times, it represents the fundamental principles of justice and the tireless pursuit of liberty upon which this nation was built.
But Reid saw fit to further her mud-slinging campaign, citing the flag as a blatant symbol of “Christian nationalist pro-Trump” sentiment. In her narrative, Alito isn’t upholding the principles of justice and liberty; he’s a rabid insurrectionist. An amusing side note – the same flag was humorously featured on Ron Swanson’s desk on NBC’s hit show “Parks and Recreation,” apparently unnoticed by Reid.
The mockery continued as Reid eagerly gave the floor to Maya Wiley. Wiley cavalierly lambasted Alito for his stance on the Dobbs case, which overturned Roe v. Wade, outrageously indicating that it undermined a “fundamental right in our country’s history.” This baseless argument assumes that abortion was a historic right in the United States.
Wiley took this opportunity to demand the recusal of “biased” Justices like Alito and Clarence Thomas. Reid, playing the dutiful echo-chamber, readily agreed, culminating her diatribe by dubbing Alito as a “lawless individual” and a “Christian nationalist”.
Have they considered how often the American flag is flown, by Trump supporters and otherwise? Are we to label our nation’s flag as an “insurrectionist symbol” next? MSNBC’s shameful attempt to smear a respected justice over a historic flag reflects the bankruptcy of their narratives.
Conclusion: The relentless skewering of Justice Alito for flying a flag that symbolizes our nation’s pursuit of justice and liberty is nothing short of appalling. What we’re seeing here is not journalism, but a targeted smear campaign against one of our esteemed Justice members – all because he dared to not align with their skewed narratives. The true “lawless individuals” here are the ones twisting the pursuit of truth for their own biases.
