Taylor Momsen Bitten by Bat Onstage: Witchy #BatGirl Rocks Spain, Gets Rabies Shots Immediately!

In an astonishing and alarming occurrence, “Gossip Girl” actress and lead singer of The Pretty Reckless, Taylor Momsen, was bitten by a bat during a live performance in Sevilla, Spain. The 30-year-old singer was in the midst of opening for AC/DC on the European leg of their Power Up tour when the incident took place. The dramatic event unfolded while Momsen performed the song “Witches Burn,” captivating her audience and leaving fans in utter disbelief.

Momsen shared the details of the bizarre incident on her Instagram account, stating, “So … ROCK AND ROLL MOMENT … in Sevilla Wednesday during ‘Witches Burn’ of all songs… a BAT flew onto me and clung to my leg …” Initially, the singer was unaware of the bat’s presence, only realizing the situation after the crowd continuously screamed and pointed towards her. Despite the scare, Momsen described the bat as “cute,” but noted her need for rabies shots over the next two weeks, sharing her gratitude for the hospital staff who dubbed her #batgirl.

The video clip of the incident shows Momsen addressing the audience, trying to understand why they were pointing and screaming. Upon discovering the bat attached to the hem of her dress, she exclaimed, “Holy f***! There’s a f***ing flying bat on my leg right now!” Despite her initial shock, Momsen managed to maintain composure, joking, “I must really be a witch.”

The bat was eventually removed, with Momsen reassuring the audience that “it’s all right,” and that the bat was unharmed, “He’s gonna be my new friend.” She later shared footage of herself at the hospital receiving preventative rabies shots.

Rabies is a potentially fatal virus transmitted to humans from the saliva of infected animals, often through bites. The Mayo Clinic explains that once symptoms of rabies develop, the disease is almost always fatal. This makes it essential for those exposed to the virus to receive vaccinations as soon as possible. Early symptoms can be flu-like, with later symptoms progressing to fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, agitation, anxiety, confusion, hyperactivity, difficulty swallowing, excessive salivation, fear of consuming fluid, hallucinations, insomnia, and partial paralysis.

In conclusion, Taylor Momsen’s shocking encounter with a bat during her performance in Sevilla, Spain, has left fans incredulous and concerned. Thankfully, Momsen had the presence of mind to secure medical attention immediately, undergoing rabies vaccination as a precautionary measure. The story highlights the unpredictable nature of live performances and serves as a stark reminder of the importance of prompt vaccination following potential exposure to the rabies virus. This truly strange event will, no doubt, be one for the history books, with Taylor Momsen earning the moniker #batgirl.
