They’re working overtime these days, yanking out every trick from their little bag of propaganda tools. But the transparency is glaring, and it is grating. It’s seen in how ABC White House correspondent Mary Bruce operates while gushing over President Joe Biden’s recent appearance at Pointe du Hoc. According to her, we’re striding right out of the ’80s again. Well, if only it were that convenient, if only it were that easy.
Mary Bruce’s glow about Biden holding forth at the historic war site, just as Reagan did a cool four decades ago, was rather illuminating. Bruce presented us with side-by-side images of Biden and Reagan, enthusiastically remarking, “Biden speaking at the same site where 40 years ago President Reagan delivered one of his most iconic speeches.”
Then came the kicker, the underlined contrast, according to Bruce. She argued that Biden epitomized America’s role as a global guardian, conveniently overlooking Trump’s strong commitment to the national interest. This might strike as borderline whimsy but is indeed typical media myopia.
Bruce went on to detail Biden’s meeting with Ukrainian President Zelensky, going as far as justifying him for attributing the delay in approving new military aid to Republicans. But wait, there’s more! Bruce helpfully included a clip with Biden informing Zelensky about those dastardly “very conservative members who were holding it up.”
Right from ABC studios, the tale unfolds as a fable where Democrats are good guys, whereas Republicans get served as villains. But Ukraine doesn’t live in this black and white TV drama, do they? Team Biden’s engagement policy left a nation helpless as Russian forces loomed just across the border. Their pleas fell on Biden’s deaf ears, and when he finally did act, it was essentially too late. And yet, the constraints on hitting targets deep in Russia persist. What’s more, the mainstream media refuses to flag all this.
Cast as the obliged receiver to a partisan speech from the provider of his largest aid, President Zelensky stood uncomfortably for the world to see – an inconvenient truth that ABC and other outlets conveniently ignore. The real world stands in stark contrast to the Reagan-esque fantasy woven by Biden and his media fan-club.
The media machine can only stretch the truth so far. Beaded narratives and fancy words can’t hide failed policies and political plots. Perhaps it’s time the liberals recognize that not everyone is in love with their rose-tinted version of events. So keep twisting, spinning, and ignoring the inconvenient truths; after all, reality always has a funny way of catching up. In the end, propaganda isn’t policy, no matter how frantically they peddle it.
