Do you feel the breeze?” His gags about needing each vote to the point of disregarding an attendee’s health got hearty chuckles from the crowd. True to classic Trump humor, he added a jab at the media, cautioning that his playful talk would be twisted into something ominous.

Right on cue, the journos at Newsweek grabbed hold of the bait, splashing out a headline that conspicuously manipulated Trump’s joking tone. This was further disseminated by the folks at MSN.com, spreading the fallacy: “Donald Trump Jokes to Las Vegas Rally Attendees: ‘I Don’t Care About You.'”

The Newsweek headline was a blatant distortion of the former president’s light-hearted comments. Where’s the dignity in journalism, you may wonder? The glorious anchor of truth that once held these ‘well-regarded’ outlets in high esteem has apparently sunk, lost in the lust for clickbait.

Remarkably, amidst the biased reporting, the piece penned by Natalie Venegas did admit to Trump’s humorous intent. But the story immediately went downhill with a repetitive string of context-less quotes plastered all over the place with the sole agenda of validating their skewed perspective.

Venegas picked up on various social media reactions, mostly from outlets and individuals that have been established Trump critics. These out-of-place comments were just another attempt to validate a preconceived narrative rather than reporting the actual event and its context.

Surprisingly, Newsweek tried to balance the piece towards the end, mentioning the precautions Trump’s team took in ensuring the well-being of attendees, providing bottled water, misting fans, and tents. But by then, the damage had been done, and their bias was all too apparent.

It’s time to see past such manipulative reporting. Remember, the press has its agenda, and the truth often becomes a casualty. Trump’s humor may not suit all, but let’s not forget the purpose behind it – to interact with his supporters and not merely preach from the podium. Good-natured humor is an essential commodity, even in politics — let’s not let out-of-context press spin ruin it for us.
