In an unsurprising turn of events, Hunter Biden, the President’s son, was found guilty on gun-related charges on Tuesday leading MSNBC to paint President Biden as an upholder of the law, while launching another attack on former President Trump.

Despite President Trump never dismissing legal analyst Andrew Weissmann or his superior, Robert Mueller, Weissmann crafted baseless narratives disguised as praises for President Biden. He championed the fact that Biden didn’t issue a pardon for his son, which should be considered the expected procedure given the scope of the rule of law, rather than an act of heroism. However, the relentless contrast to the former President Trump was persistent as MSNBC continued to capitalize on any opportunity to bash the former President.

Furthering the comparison, Senator Claire McCaskill hopped on the bandwagon, emphasizing President Biden’s action at a French cemetery where he celebrated the heroes who fought against tyranny. Meanwhile, she highlighted the “bizarreness” of Trump’s speech during the weekend. The theme of constant contrasting and its impact on US politics appears to be MSNBC’s agenda of preference.

The unappealing habit to point fingers at Republicans’ alleged hypocrisy, including the belief that telling the federal government about purchasing a gun is unnecessary, continued as McCaskill seized the opportunity to do so. The unnecessary ridicule of Trump supporters had no relation to the issue at hand being that of due prosecution under the law.

In an attempt to further set a narrative, Chuck Todd joined in stating that Hunter’s case might not have been taken up if Joe Biden was not president. This supposition, however, leaves us wondering if the same logic would have applied to cases involving Trump had he not run for presidency. Todd made the remarkable statement that Hunter Biden being held accountable might be due to who he is, rather than the law being universally applicable.

Lastly, McCaskill decided to drag Jill Biden and Melania Trump into this conversation, applauding Jill’s support for Hunter while undermining Melania’s obligation to her family member’s “moral failings.” This unending comparison only reveals the media outlet’s fixation on furthering a divisive environment rather than simply reporting the news.

It is disheartening that despite having the platform to provide an unbiased coverage, the news network continues to miss the mark by focusing on fanning the flames of division and political bias. This kind of reporting leaves the public questioning the credibility of the media and their role in informing society accurately rather than promoting their own agenda.
