Country music legend George Strait has once again proven his undisputed status as the “King of Country Music” by breaking the U.S. concert attendance record during his Saturday night performance at Kyle Field, located on the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station. The 72-year-old singer drew an astonishing 110,905 ticket-buying fans, surpassing the previous record of 107,019 set by The Grateful Dead at their 1977 show in Raceway Park, New Jersey.

Strait, who was joined by special guests Parker McCollum and Catie Offerman, expressed his excitement and gratitude to the massive crowd, admitting that it was his first time performing at the iconic Kyle Field. “What’s going on everybody?” Strait asked the enthusiastic audience. “We got some Aggies out there? Oh yeah! I’m ashamed to say this, but this is my first time to ever be in Kyle Field… damn! Just invite me back, I’ll come!”

The record-breaking attendance not only applied to U.S. concerts but also to Kyle Field itself. Strait’s performance managed to attract more people than the stadium’s previous record of 110,633, set during a 2014 college football game between Texas A&M and Ole Miss.

Among the sea of fans were notable figures such as Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott, who took to social media to praise the event. “Unbelievable concert by the King, George Strait,” Abbott shared on X (formerly Twitter). “Largest packed house for a concert in America. Ever.” Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) also attended the show with his daughter Caroline, posting a photo of the duo posing with Strait and expressing his enjoyment of the “spectacular concert.”

This latest achievement adds to Strait’s already impressive list of records. The “Check Yes Or No” singer holds the most number-one singles of any artist across all genres and is the only artist to chart a top 10 hit every year for an incredible 30 years. Additionally, Strait boasts the most number-one albums, gold albums, and platinum albums in country music history.

In anticipation of the record-breaking show, Strait introduced two new songs, “MIA in MIA” and “The Little Things,” which will be featured on his upcoming album, “Cowboys And Dreamers,” set for release on September 6.

The Country Music Hall of Famer is currently on tour, with upcoming performances scheduled in Salt Lake City, Detroit, and Chicago. Fans can also catch Strait in Las Vegas on December 7.
