On Tuesday, former President Donald Trump released an announcement through his Save America PAC celebrating a new accomplishment of his new social media platform, Truth Social.
Truth Social describes itself as a free-speech platform that encourages “open, free, and honest global conversation without discriminating against political ideology.”
According to the former President, “Truth Social is number ONE in the Apple App Store.”
Following Truth Social on the Apple App Store under the “top free apps” section was Twitter and LiveIn – Live Pic Widget.
On Monday, Twitter officially became privately owned after billionaire Elon Musk bought the company in a $44 billion deal.
“Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,” Musk said in a statement. “I also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans. Twitter has tremendous potential – I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it.”
After Musk successfully acquired the company, it left many wondering whether former President Trump would rejoin the platform considering its new ownership.
However, as previously reported by The Next News Network, Trump announced that he was sticking with his new platform Truth Social.
Musk, for his part, hopes everyone will be on Twitter, even if they are his worst critics, “because that is what free speech means.”
