“It’s Not Your Job, Dude:” Whoopi Goldberg Goes After Archbishop Who Banned Pelosi

On Monday, Whoopi Goldberg, co-host on “The View,” attacked the San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone that announced on Friday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is banned from Holy Communion because of her outright support of abortion legislation.

Goldberg made it clear that he doesn’t think it is the archbishops job to ban the speaker in a video that went viral quickly after the show.

“The Archbishop of San Francisco is calling for Speaker Nancy Pelosi to be denied receiving Communion because of her pro-choice stance … this is not your job, dude. That is not up to you to make that decision,” Goldberg said.

The archbishop that Whoopi is referring to sent a message to Pelosi that she is not welcome. Take a look at what he wrote.

In a letter he sent to Pelosi, “A Catholic legislator who supports procured abortion, after knowing the teaching of the Church, commits a manifestly grave sin which is a cause of most serious scandal to others. Therefore, universal Church law provides that such persons ‘are not to be admitted to Holy Communion.”

“After numerous attempts to speak with Speaker Pelosi to help her understand the grave evil she is perpetrating, the scandal she is causing, an the danger to her own soul she is risking, I have determined that she is not to be admitted to Holy Communion.” the Archbishop said.

Goldberg is wrong, though. It is his decision and he’s actually right about Catholic Church doctrine backing his decision.

“Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion,” the Catechism of the Catholic Church says. “This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable.”

Next News Network covered the full letter – which you can read here.

Do you think Whoopi is wrong and Pelosi deserves to be banned from communion under church doctrine?
