Biden Says He Would Ban “High Caliber” Weapons

A tragedy took place a week ago, at an elementary school. Since then, as usual, Democrats want to ban some types of guns. Joe Biden just made a statement about specifically what he’d like to ban.

On Memorial Day, after returning from a visit to Uvalde, Texas, Joe Biden said this: “They showed me… an x-ray and said a .22 caliber bullet will lodge in a lung and we can probably get it out, we may be able to get it, and save the life. A 9mm bullet blows the lung out of the body. So the idea is high caliber weapons…. there’s simply no rational basis for it in terms of… self protection, hunting…. I just…and remember the Constitution the Second Amendment was never absolute.”

See it for yourself:

Biden specifically mentioned 9mm bullets being unnecessary. Most gun enthusiasts would disagree, especially since 9mm firearms are some of the most popular.

One twitter user gave a comical response to what Biden said: “I agree that 9mm is unacceptable. That’s why I carry 40mm.”

Of course, he meant caliber, but you get the gist.

According to the New York Post, when Biden mentioned the x-ray, he was recalling a visit to a trauma unit at a hospital where he was shown x-rays of different bullet wounds. Biden also said during his remarks, ““I can’t dictate this stuff. I can do the things I’ve done and any executive action I can take, I’ll continue to take. But I can’t outlaw a weapon. I can’t, you know, change the background checks. I can’t do that,” reports the New York Post.

Biden has said before, that the Second Amendment is not absolute. He then likes to state that “[y]ou couldn’t buy a cannon when the Second Amendment was passed. You couldn’t go out and purchase a lot of weapons.” The problem for him is his statements have been debunked. According to PolitiFact, “[t]he Second Amendment did not place limits on individual ownership of cannons. The text of the amendment is brief: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” Though the rights endowed in the amendment are a point of contention for most Americans, the U.S. Supreme Court has maintained that it does confer an individual’s right to bear arms. “Biden’s statement is completely false,” said David Kopel, the research director and Second Amendment project director at the Independence Institute. “Neither in 1791 nor in the preceding centuries was there any American law against owning particular types of arms.”

It comes as no surprise that Biden and other Democrats want to enact more guns laws in the wake of the Uvalde shooting. What they say, however, if nonsense. Do you think they will be able to pass any more gun regulations?
