Suspect Who Killed 2 L.A. County Police Officers Was On Probation Thanks to Liberal DA’s Refusal to Follow California Law

California’s liberal policies toward crime have led to it being a very unsafe place to live, for citizens and police officers alike. Even liberals are starting to see what their liberal elected officials are doing to their communities, as evidenced by the recent recall of San Francisco District Attorney, Chesa Boudin.

One of the biggest problems is how liberals think it’s “progressive” to let as many people out of jail as possible. That’s dangerous and leads to tragedy too much of the time. For example, Cpl. Michael Paredes and Officer Joseph Santana of the El Monte Police Department, in Los Angeles County, were killed late Tuesday afternoon during a shootout with a suspect who was on probation for being a felon in possession of a firearm, who already had at least one strike under California law, reports Fox News.

Paredes and Santana were responding to a report of a possible stabbing at a motel when “they were essentially ambushed while trying to keep a family safe,” El Monte Mayor Jessica Ancona said. The two police officers and the suspect were hit by gunfire and all three died.

The suspect, Justin William Flores, had a previous strike conviction and was placed on probation for two years for being a felon in possession of a firearm. The L.A. County District Attorney George Gascon, allowed “Flores to plead no contest and receive a light sentence despite having a strike on his criminal record,” reports Fox News. “Sources in the District Attorney’s office told Fox News that if Flores would have been prosecuted in February 2021 under the normal procedure, he would have likely been sentenced to up to three years in prison.” Gascon has been called out for refusing to prosecute three strike defendants.

In fact, a Court ruled recently that Gascon, who is facing a second recall effort, has a duty to enforce California’s Three Strike Law, something he has not done. Defendants in Three Strike cases can receive significantly longer prison sentences. Just like Flores should have.

Rep. Lauren Boebert responds to accusations she’s been paid escort and has had 2 abortions

I’m sure you can see where this is going. Had Gascon prosecuted Flores according to the law, like D.A.’s are supposed to do, Paredes and Santana would be alive today. The blood of the two police officers who were just trying to do their jobs is on D.A. Gascon’s hands, and the hands of all the other liberals who think people who commit crimes shouldn’t pay the consequences for their choices. Should Gascon lose his job?
