On Thursday, President Joe Biden gave bizarre condolences for the CFO of Ohio-based retailer Jo-Ann, Matt Susz, who died suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday.

Biden gave his remarks from the State Dining Room during his signing of the Ocean Shipping Reform Act of 2022. The goal of the bill was to fix supply chain issues that have plagued his administration.

“I’ve said many times, tackling inflation is my number one priority,” Biden said. “It is time to get America’s supply chain rolling again.”

Biden then addressed someone in the crowd and offered his rude condolences to the family.

“And by the way, my sympathies to your family of your CFO, who dropped dead very unexpectedly,” said Biden. “My best to their family. It’s tough stuff.”

Susz’s cause of death is still unknown at this point. He passed on June 15th and worked for the company for nearly two decades.

The president was immediately roasted on Twitter over his comments. A senior digital strategist Greg Price posted in reply, “The look on the sign language interpreter’s face just makes it even funnier.”

Another person posted a meme with the caption, “QuidproJoe is such a class act.”

Another person offered advice to the mumbling president saying that Biden could benefit from using more “tact.”

Biden also used his speaking time to say that shipping companies are “sticking it to American families and businesses.” He said they are behind price hikes that “hurt American families” and said that the industry is controlled by nine companies that reported $190 billion in profits last year – despite the rampant supply chain issues.

The bill he signed seeks to make shipping goods across the ocean cheaper with the hopes that it will lower costs for consumers at home.

Amy Klobuchar also attended the event and touted the bill as a huge step in the right direction that would incentivize shipping companies to lower costs.

“If I were them, I would take great heed at the unanimous vote in the Senate, the strong vote in the House, that we could act very soon if they don’t start being fair,” Klobuchar said. “If they keep their prices so high and don’t respond to the needs in our country, I think you will see legislation, more legislation, in the mix.”

Biden always seems to put his foot in his mouth at the wrong times. This time was no different. The guy just always seems to say the wrong thing. His comments were likely heartfelt but the way he expressed them didn’t seem to be. Could you imagine if Trump had said something similar? We would have never heard the end of it.
