On Sunday, a pro-abortion mobbed an interstate and blocked traffic outside the Busch Stadium during a Cardinals Philly game. They brought traffic to a stop for almost half-an-hour.
Police said the group walked up a highway ramp near Interstate 64 and got on the interstate ramp and walked back down it. Beforehand, the protest started downtown St. Louis.
One of the organizers, Isabella Diamond, said the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade is more than just about abortion, according to KSDK.
“We are here, basically, to raise awareness to the fact that we currently have a radicalized Supreme Court,” she said.
During her speech, she said “They’re coming for our voting rights. They’re coming for native sovereignty. They’re coming for gay rights. It’s a huge issue and I think that people need to understand the gravity of it.”
Activists at the protest shared personal stories of their abortions with other people before the march kicked off.
“Abortion saved my life. I always wanted to be a mother, I never wanted it to be that way,” one speaker said.
Abortions are illegal in Missouri after the Supreme Court overturned Roe, but many pregnancy centers are still operating as usual.
Executive Director Brian Westbrook for the Coalition Life, a pro-life nonprofit, said that the last several weeks have normal since the decision and in fact it has gotten more busy now that women need help and cannot get access to easy abortions’ in the state. Many are turning to them now to navigate a distressing situation.
“It’s really important that we continue to focus on helping those specific women, they’re going to need more help than they ever had before and we’re ready to do that, along with the other 75 pregnancy centers in Missouri,” he said.
Westbrook says that his goal is not to make abortion “illegal” but to make it “unthinkable.”
NBC Panelist Wishes Death Upon Trump: “Hoping He Dies”
It’s their first amendment right to protest even if you disagree with them, but man, it would be so annoying if you had to sit on the on ramp for 30 minutes listening to someone talk about how much they want the ability to kill a child in the womb. Do you think we are going to see more of this leading up into November? It’s definitely likely. Tell us your thoughts.
