BREAKING: Dem Governor Declared “Public Threat” As “Purge” Law Inches Closer to Destroying Illinois

The Pritzker government’s new “PURGE Act” is a direct threat to public safety, according to the state’s attorney. In a stunning lawsuit filed earlier this week, the attorney argues that the act — which allows for the immediate release of criminals — is unconstitutional and will lead to needless chaos and deaths on the streets of Illinois. This is just another example of J.B. Pritzker’s reckless disregard for the people he is supposed to serve.

According to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner in the state of Illinois, a lawsuit filed Monday by the McHenry County State’s Attorney alleges the SAFE-T Act violates the Illinois Constitution and is a “threat to public safety.”

Attorney General Kwame Raoul and Governor JB Pritzker are named as defendants in the lawsuit filed in the 22nd Judicial Circuit in McHenry County.

In January 2021, Pritzker signed the SAFE-T Act into law, which, as previously reported by Next News, will end cash bail in Illinois on January 1.

According to the lawsuit, the SAFE-T act, also known as HB3653, violates Article 4, Section 8 of the Illinois Constitution, which requires that bills “shall be confined to one subject.”

Additionally, the suit alleges that the law violates Article 2, Section 1 of the Illinois Constitution because it “unconstitutionally trenches on the separate powers of the judiciary.”

According to the lawsuit, there is also an alleged violation of Article 1, Section 8.1 of the Illinois Constitution, which gives crime victims several rights.

“It is my sworn duty as Will County’s State’s Attorney to protect the people of Will County and the State of Illinois. To put it in plain and simple terms, this is not about politics; it is about public safety,” Glasgow, who is also a Democrat, said in a statement. “Sadly, I have received veiled threats over my opposition to this legislation, but I must put the safety of my constituents first. On this issue, I’ll grab a line from Tom Petty — “You can stand me up at the gates of Hell, and I won’t back down.’”

Patch News, which covers parts of Illinois, reported that after breaking the news on Glasgow’s lawsuit, more than 150 readers of the news outlet submitted their own reactions. A majority of responses were in support of the lawsuit.

Next News previously reported that Glasgow initially spoke out against the bill earlier this year, saying the bill would “destroy the state of Illinois.”

We also reported that Orland Park, Illinois Mayor and US House Candidate Keith Pekau drew national attention for his September 7th warning of the Safe-T act.
