A teen who ran over a mother and baby in 2021 in Venice, California, was shot and killed recently in Palmdale.
In video footage of the 2021 hit-and-run, the woman is seen pushing a stroller. In a few moments, she slows down and pulls the stroller up against a wall.
The woman lifts the stroller out of the way as the car approaches. She was knocked to the ground and the stroller landed on its side when the car rammed into her. As the car sped away, the woman jumped up and ran for her baby. When the car crashed into a truck blocking its path, it stopped.
The driver was found to have drugs in his system, and marijuana was found inside the vehicle.
Because of District Attorney George Gascón’s soft-on-crime policies, the teenager was sentenced to just five to seven months of juvenile detention.
Fox News reported Friday that 17-year-old Kristopher Baca pleaded guilty last year. Now, his death is being confirmed by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s office, according to the outlet.
The Coroner’s report stated, “Deputies found him dead with gunshot wounds in a Palmdale driveway on the 83600 block of 11th Street East on Wednesday evening, according to the sheriff’s office.”
Apparently, the young man was walking home from a restaurant when a car approached. During the argument, someone inside the vehicle opened fire, and the car fled.
As a result of the soft-on-crime policies that have made the area unsafe, the mother in the original case has since moved out of Los Angeles.
A fate that could have been avoided with the correct prosecution appears to have caught up with Kristopher Baca, the teenager who ran over a mother and her baby in 2021 in California. The 17-year old was found to have drugs in his system, had marijuana in his vehicle, and yet was only sentenced to five to seven months of juvenile detention due to District Attorney George Gascón’s soft-on-crime policies. Unfortunately for Baca, he was recently shot and killed – a shocking turn of events that few could have foreseen. We can only hope that those who commit such sick crimes are prosecuted to the full extent of the law and receive justice accordingly.
